Plant Care Guide – Fittonia (Mosaic Plant)

The Fittonia, also known as the mosaic plant, is a compact tropical houseplant known for its striking leaves with colorful veins. Thanks to its unique patterns in pink, red, white, or green, this plant is a real eye-catcher in any home.

Originating from the tropical rainforests of South America, where it is warm and humid, the Fittonia thrives in high humidity and a sheltered spot away from direct sunlight.

Care

Watering

The water requirement is moderate to high. Keep the soil slightly moist, but prevent the roots from staying wet for extended periods. Do not let the soil dry out completely.

Light requirement

The Fittonia grows best in a spot with plenty of indirect light or in partial shade. Avoid direct sunlight, as this can discolour or dry out the leaves.

Humidity & Temperature

The Fittonia loves high humidity and a temperature between 18 and 25°C. In dry air, the leaves may droop or develop brown edges.

Nutrition

During spring and summer, provide plant food about once a month. In autumn and winter, the plant usually doesn't need extra feeding.

Soil & repotting

Use a light, well-draining potting soil that remains slightly moist. Repot the plant when it becomes too large for the pot or when the soil dries out quickly.
